No great damage reported in Taiwan but this is a reminder of how unsettled the earth has been since that massive break two years ago.

Winter Tornadoes, Beaches Disappearing, Global Warming Continues

This Christmas picture was taken just before sunset today and note how I am dressed for the season. Green grass on the hills behind, rain on the way yet again: global warming continues. Tornadoes in England earlier this month and now in Florida while the beaches in Hawaii disappear under the waves and poor Banda Aceh, nearly totally destroyed by the tsunami two years ago, is hit by big floods.

Geothermal Power Station In California Seeing Possible Volcanic Event

All over the West, one can see mountains that were formed by fissures opening up and releasing vast quantities of lava. This is totally different from volcanoes. The mountains on the West side of Tucson were formed this way. New Mexico has some recent eruptions of this type. Often, these rifts open in conjunction with a major earthquake on a major fault line. In California, a hot spring community is seeing increased activity.

Series of 3.5 Quakes In Same Spot In Berkeley

I used to live in Berkeley. This last three days, the Hayward Fault has shaken several times, each time in the exact same spot, same depth and same intensity. This could be a signal the fault is going to blow. This segment of the complex California geology has not had any adjustments except very small ones, since 1889.
