Warmongering Washington Post snarls and snaps at China for not being warmongering enough about Darfur. Meanwhile, millions of refugees pour out of Iraq, lots more soldiers die there and the UN isn't holding war trials to punish the neo cons in the US/UK Axis. Russia sucessfully tests a MIRV missile and Putin talks about Europe frying if they continue to let the US warmongers put missiles on Russia's borders.
From the Washington Post Nazis:
PRESIDENT BUSH'S announcement yesterday of new sanctions against Sudan because of the continuing genocide in Darfur was well justified and -- after more than a month's delay to allow for fruitless diplomacy -- overdue. It was also out of sync with the disturbing position of China, whose cooperation is essential to bringing sufficient pressure to bear on the Sudanese regime. On the same day that Mr. Bush extended U.S. economic sanctions to 31 more Sudanese companies and three individuals, China's new African envoy held a news conference at which he argued that more foreign aid and investment, not sanctions, is the right medicine for the regime of Omar Hassan al-Bashir. As it is, Sudan sells 60 percent of its oil and 40 percent of its total exports to China, which has invested heavily in Sudan's oil industry and sold weapons to its army. As long as Beijing continues this lucrative partnership, U.S. sanctions, already in place for a decade, are unlikely to prove effective.
The only reason the world isn't dumping sanctions on our own heads is because the entire world is milking the 'free trade' situation here and making lots of money and gaining lots of power. In the game of international power politics, what matters is who is building their economies versus who is losing status and industries. The editors of the Washington Post imagine that empire=powerful military and all this means we can blunderbuss about the world, forcing everyone to do our bidding.
This fixation with Darfur ticks me off in particular. The US rains death down upon the heads of Muslims all over the Middle East! We have killed more people than the 'genocide' (sic) in Darfur. We have created more refugees than the Darfur 'genocide'. We pay the Israeli Jews to invade and colonize Palestine and support them putting the natives of Palestine into ghettos. On every possible level, we are aping Hitler. Zoellick, the latest of the Zionist neo-cons to take over the World Bank, was instrumental in making Darfur the focus of all the outrage and ire of the warmongering community of this planet.
From day one, I have said, Darfur is a tool of distraction set up to make it look as if the Nazis in Israel and the US are concerned about human rights and peace so they can have some cover for their many, many crimes in the Middle East. These inhuman crocodiles can't shed a tear for dying children who are Muslims will weep and wail about Darfur hoping this will distract the world from the blazing fires in the Middle East.
Here is today's headline from Antiwar.com: Tuesday: 13 GIs, 169 Iraqis Killed; 146 Iraqis Wounded; 40 Iraqis, 5 Britons Kidnapped. Cindy Sheehan, on the anniversary of the death of her son, quit the Peace Movement in disgust because it was not united in trying to stop this madness. Right on the heels of the warmongers in Congress passing an open-ended, no strings attached budget for more death to Muslims, the deaths rise in Iraq. How many people in Darfur have been blown up this month? 5? 10? 100? That barely begins to cover the number of deaths in Iraq per HOUR. How dare the warmongers in America talk about Darfur?
And Israeli Jews are now talking about invading the Gaza Warsaw Ghetto. Hitler had to do that back during WWII. For identical reasons. I remember something about that time. When a Jewish man assassinated a top Nazi, for example, the Nazis murdered whole villages of people. This was at the beginning of the Nazi abuse of their slave populations. The Israelis claim the same right of killing thousands of Muslims if any Israeli soldier or civilian is killed.
The fixation on using Darfur as a tool to cover up the many, many crimes of American and Zionist attempts at violent conquest 'shock and awe' is causing severe diplomatic stress all over the world. Last year, the Darfur business was used to attack fat Muslim dictators who happily joined in tish-tishing the Darfur violence in the expectations the Zionists would then have to start negotiations with the Palestinians again. Instead, this only increased the sufferings of the Palestinian people and made things much worse for them and the poor people of Iraq---life become impossible for them. So now, all nations are digging in their heels and refusing to play the American/Zionist games.
A senior Chinese diplomat said here Tuesday that too much pressure and expanding sanctions will not be helpful for the resolution of the Darfur issue.Liu Guijin, the newly-appointed Chinese special representative for Darfur issue, made the remark at a briefing that came two days after he concluded a five-day visit to Sudan.
Liu said "signs of positive progress" had emerged and he called on the international community to use its political wisdom and creativity to push for a peaceful resolution by political means.
"In the current situation, too much pressure or expanding sanctions will not be helpful for the peaceful settlement of the issue, but further complicate the situation," Liu said, adding that many previous cases had already proved that issues like Darfur would never be properly addressed without the country's internal political process.
"Why can't the international community give a little more time, a little more chance and a little more patience to resolve the issue," the Chinese envoy asked.
China is scoring huge points against us taking this tack. They are basically calling our bluff. We have no interest in saving anyone, we just want to pretend that we have morals even though we are the world's worst sinners. I love it when so many people in the West yap about Tibet all the time but are silent about Palestine! The chief thing about Tibet is, oh my god! The Chinese Han are invading, coming in and opening stores and businesses! How DARE they!
But allowing a flood of Russians or Americans into the Holy Lands to colonize and destroy the communities that have been there for eons: that's OK! We are bringing business and opening stores! We are modernizing this ancient land! The natives have no right to be there, anyway! The Peace Movement has been shattered by all this. The last major Peace March in DC had a much smaller crowd than the previous ones because the organizers decided it would 'divide' us if we talked about Palestine. Since then, the movement has been basically dead in the water as Congress, our Knesset, votes for more and more war while talking as if they want peace. The support for Israeli Zionist colonization and brutality is higher today than in any time in our history. The Democratic leadership is entirely focused on furthering the war crimes of the European and American invaders of the Middle East.
As I predicted. The betrayal of the peace movement isn't a mistake. It was the plan! Way back when I was kicked out of several online comment places because I connected Palestine to all our wars, I warned everyone that we can't have this dual moral relationship, cheering on Israeli Zionism while talking about the rights of natives and the need for peace in Darfur or Tibet. The peace movement must talk about this particular issue, it is life and death. And Cindy Sheehan dared to talk about it and this is why she was suddenly marginalized and attacked and is now retreating just like Jimmy Carter is losing heart even as he suffers, watching this dire mess ooze its way to Armageddon.
Suddenly, the Chinese dragon doesn't look so scary. For several years, Beijing's leaders and diplomats have labored hard to portray their homeland as benign, well mannered and neighborly. Now a new global opinion survey out this week suggests their efforts have paid off. The once visceral fear felt in many quarters that China's rise would spell disaster for its business competitors, historical foes and political critics alike has dulled, while Beijing's ongoing campaign to cast its renaissance as what President Hu Jintao calls a "peaceful rising" has apparently begun to sway at least some hearts and minds around the globe.
The loss of face is so great today thanks to our war crimes and our double standards, China's diplomacy is all too easy for them. From day one, I admired Hu And Wen's dual diplomacy and their army of well-groomed diplomats are gaining ground even as our own bloody mess destroys our empire's popularity and standing in the world. We replaced the 'Shining City on the Hill' with the 'Tower of the Dark Lord, Baradur.'
Our refusal to face reality has real consequences. The whole world can, thanks to the internet, see our crimes and the whole world is watching in horror as the mess gets worse and worse. The UN no longer talks about Palestine nor Iraq while holding meeting after meeting about Darfur. But China is finally putting that to an end. The bloody US constantly protects the violent Zionists invading Palestine by vetoing anything to do with Israel on the misnamed 'Security Council.' Now we are demanding that China not do that for Sudan!
The UN should be addressing the issue of all those dangerous and stupid nuclear warheads held by Russia and the US. When the Soviet Union fell, Russia began to rapidly disarm. But the US didn't follow suit, it upped its military spending and increased its nuclear arsenal and trust me, I am not the only one who is furious at this other double standard whereby the US demands Muslims and Russians disarm while we rampage around the planet, brutalizing millions of innocent civilians! If Israel and the US are so damn scared of nuclear war, they should disarm.
Russia on Tuesday tested a new intercontinental ballistic missile that it said could break through any antimissile defense system, and President Vladimir Putin stepped up his attacks on the proposed U.S. shield in Poland and the Czech Republic, saying its deployment in Europe would turn the Continent into "a powder keg."The United States says the system is aimed at blocking possible attacks by countries such as North Korea and Iran, and that Russia could easily overwhelm such a shield with its huge missile force, but Moscow says the system would destroy the strategic balance of forces in Europe.
The European leaders thought they could solve their dependency on Russian natural gas and oil by threatening Russia by using the crazed American imperial nuclear power as a tool of intimidation. The blowback from this crude attempt at power politics is amazing and swift. Russia is now talking in no uncertain terms about WWIII and the end of Europe. If the Europeans want to go further down this dire road, they should bone up on Dark Age technology and teach these skills such as knapping flint or making fire from rubbing sticks together. The survivors need to know some basic skills!
Or Europe can repudiate the American empire and cease trying to use their own power to dominate the world and extend their empires! Europe supports the invasions of Muslim lands and lusts to control the former Ottoman empire. It was Europe that launched the Holocaust, after all! And the psychology behind that hasn't changed at all since right on the heels of WWII, Europe joined America in attacking the Middle East and using miltiary might, conquering and colonizing larger and larger sections of it.
This is at the root of everything happening today. One of the first acts of the UN was to greenlight this invasion!
Iran has launched a bid to develop Germany's Transrapid high-speed magnetic train in order to ferry up to 15 million Islamic pilgrims a year along a 480-mile route linking its capital, Tehran, with the north-eastern city of Maschhad. If the deal goes ahead, Iran would become the second country, after China, to have bought Germany's record-breaking train, which "floats" on a monorail as a result of a magnetic levitation (maglev) system and can reach speeds of more than 280mph.
*snip*
An investment of $1.5bn would substantially increase German economic ties with Iran. German exports to Iran totalled €4bn (£2.7bn) last year.
And this is the problem for Europe: they have to also make a living. And to do this, they have to sell high technology to Muslims and the Chinese. And Russia. And even though Europe is rolling in dough right now, this is only due to Japan trying to kill its own currency. Europe is very dependent upon Muslim oil nations and Russia and this blowing of hot and cold air is silly and dangerous. Just like Japan alternating between boasting about how superior they are and cringing and whining to the Chinese. All the former empires fear the Chinese empire's rise! Once, China was the giant striding the earth.
And the dragon is very much awake and flexing its wings and shuddering its coils.

Yeah! Leave the Sudanese alone! You gotta love a bunch of people who call themselves the "Ganga Weeds"!
Posted by: JSmith | May 30, 2007 at 10:33 AM
Well, if we REALLY cared about Dafur, we would have ALREADY invaded the country, toppled the Sudanese government, hunted down the Ganga Weeds, disrupted their organization and supply lines, and liberated the black southern Sudanese farmers with our Shock and Awe military might.
Right, Smith?

There is a strange website called breakfornews.com that was started by this rather strange Irish guy, which claims that nearly all other websites, such as those run by Alex Jones, are "CIA internet fakes". He never claims that dkos.com or MyDD.com, etc. might be "CIA internet fakes", however. The truth is, however, that these 'liberal' sites did little more than publish mild 'obituary pieces' when Congress decided to stop issuing "suggested withdrawal dates", and just hand the white house $120 BILLION for the war machine. I had been issuing regular posts warning that this would be our only chance to make any real difference. I now wonder if the 'liberal' sites that are never called "CIA internet fakes" by the "fakes" outers are in fact run by the Agency itself. When Congress decided to just roll over and give all those BILLIONS to Bush, I created a post suggesting that people needed to stop donating blood, and start telling the "Red Cross" (itself outed as a neocon tool by:
http://agonist.org
/20060303/screw_the_red_cross
) that they were taking digitalis. This was to try to wake people up. I also posted it on Portland Indymedia. I called it "less blood for oil". Some people on the name-brand 'liberal' site were appalled, but the Indymedia folks generally thought it was a good way of making the point.
Every now and then I would remind the 'liberals' that Bill Clinton's response to the Russian unilateral disarmament was to increase military spending to above-'cold war' levels.
This plan to build a rather weak anti-missile force around Russia, which could be used to attack any Russian forces that might survive a US surprise attack, is, of course, insane. It is strange that the neocon media apparatus was able to convince people that the danger of nuclear war had disappeared even while Russia continued to have 10,000 warheads that could be re-targeted guess-where at the mere flip of a switch!
The ability to build any viable ABM system is now smaller than ever, since every nation on the planet seems to possess the technology that the US was once the sole owner of.
Here's another thing: We really need to forget about attacking any more nations. Afghanistan and Iraq were the very last 'low hanging fruit'. There are things about as bad as nuclear weapons that they can get easily now. But we continue to pour gasoline (at a VERY high cost) on the fires we have started. People seem to be programmed to ignore huge risks if their 'leaders' tell them to do so! For example, people who live on the far West Coast count as a substantial fraction of the US economy, yet when that Big One hits (that is what they call their impending mega-earthquake), they are prepared to endure a disaster that will make New Orleans look like a picnic. Then, every now and then, we are reminded that no insurance companies are willing to cover nuclear power plants. These people really do make me nervous. How stupid do they have to be to surround Russia with a system that could only work if our leaders pull a first strike? I suppose someone will make BILLIONS on it. They are like rats trying to 'slyly' remove the cheese from a monstrous trap. Idiots.

All of these provocations are deliberate and have a specific goal in mind. Yes, money is made off of building all this crap, but political reasons dictate where the crap is sent and to whom and for what purpose.
When something looks like utter idiocy, it is far more likely that there is a well thought-out reason behind it.
For example, parading our fleet up and down the coast of Iran. What did that accomplish? Iran cannot suddenly be threatened by warships that were always nearby anyway, so what was the real reason behind this idiocy?
The purpose of the yacht excersise was to get Iran to take the bait, i.e. launch its missiles against our fleet. Assuming many ships are sunk and thousands of sailors are killed, who does this benefit?
Our Monkey King, that's who. Average Americans will be "outraged" by this unprovoked attack on our servicemen, by the loss of our fleet, and the thousands of deaths. King George will be given dictatorial powers to help get America "back on its feet". No time for elections and other antiquaited procedures. War is upon us!
The entire Middle East will be destabilized by war so that no one (read China here) can do business there and our military/industrial complex (our last real industry) will be granted its wish for perpetual war (and funding) and thus retain its raison d'etre.
Of course, things might not pan out like King George hopes, and that is why he has that nice little ranch down in Paraquay. The Chinese would probably even pay him billions in yuan to flee to it if they thought it would benefit them.
Like the dead sailors floating in the waters of Pearl Harbor and the American citizens with their new "ration coupons", we will be left holding the bag of shit -- regardless of how King George's plans pan out.
It is always that way. Always.

DeVaul, I assume my cartoon characters reflect reality. Think: would a Kitty Cat fight a sea battle? Of course not. The wise cat sits in the tree and laughs a la Cheshire Cat.
And of course, this is why the Cat wins every round with the stupid mouse/monkey running America. All it has to do is throw a banana peel down.

Yes, you are right, and that is why the Iranians did not fall for the bait. It was way too obvious.
Not to worry, though. King George announced a new plan today: he will turn Iraq into another South Korea. That way, he can launch a land invasion straight into Iran whenever he is ready. In the meantime, the CIA will make life hell for the Iranian government.
If I were the Chinese, I would seriously be thinking about dumping dollars very soon. However, I would also not be surprised if they could not do so because of something we do not know about.
I can only see what our leaders want me to see. I can only use my common sense and make educated guesses as to what they are up to. Everything is concealed from most of us. Common sense tells me that it will not be good for us down at the bottom.
Posted by: DeVaul | May 30, 2007 at 11:50 PM
The Chinese are not Drama Queens by any means. Their style will be to just count down the shoe, then lay out their cards. Real gentlemanly like. They will make quiet offers we cannot refuse. The details will come up on our back pages at the bottom of the columns. They will give us the "you are fucked" message very subtly. But yet, we shall be well and truly fucked, just the same.
Posted by: blues | May 31, 2007 at 12:38 AM
Indeed, the Chinese already told us what we must do to escape our fates and the media and our leaders all yelled at them.
They want us intact, not destroyed. They just want our navy at the bottom of the sea. Or they buy it from us which for them, would be the cheapest and nicest solution.

It's not a distraction, and if you don't believe me, go sit in Darfur and bitch to me about it being a scheme. Tell the Janjaweed hullo, hm. Call me back on that. You talk about death as a statistic. Any amount of death is terrible. We're not playing stratego, dumbass. Those are people like you and me dying. It's a real problem, and we're the 'bad guys' for what, being mad China's helping? So we're hypocrites. Fine. Whatever. I don't care about my patch of dirt's pride. What matters is human life, and you look at the hideous genocide like a stock market report.
