You could use a sled too, and get yourself a big two-person saw, as you can't rely on a chainsaw, and wood needs time to dry, so you have to cut and stack a couple of years ahead, oak I have heard, needs even longer.

You can burn wet wood if you clean the chimney every month. I do that anyway.

And yes, over the years, I have hand-sawed plenty of wood including with my 5' two-man saw. I wield a mean axe, too.

Also, wood that isn't cured burns much longer which means more heat! Ain't that funny? When it is below zero, I burn a lot of it.
