Tonight, the full moon has risen and it is not only the Okoberfest harvest moon, it is also closer than usual. So it is quite beautiful and I am drinking a Saranac Oktoberfest Bier tonight and I want to split it with all my dear readers. Thus the photo.
You are not hallucinating, the moon really is closer than normal!

SPACE.com Fri Oct 6, 9:15 AM ETTonight's full Moon will be almost 12 percent bigger than some of the full Moons this year, according to NASA, setting up a fine viewing opportunity when it rises in the evening.
The reason: The Moon is near perigee, the point on its slightly out-of-round orbit that is closest to Earth.
This Moon is called the Harvest Moon, owing to its timing of being nearest the autumnal equinox. Farmers in the past relied on it to harvest all night. The Harvest Moon is not always closer and bigger than normal.
I read about this in Xinhua news for this is an important festival in China. Like Cherry blossom watching in Japan. In Germany, one is supposed to be thoroughly sloshed by moonrise. In ancient times, this moonrise was very important and human sacrifices and orgies were executed or enacted and so I wonder why the GOP and their numerous minions aren't running around ripping off the heads of pages while screaming about the God of Wine or rather the God of Whine in their case.
I got a log splitter this week and so I thought we could metaphorically split a beer but it would be filled with glass fragments so I just used a photo. As they say, 'Wish you could be here.'
It finally stopped raining every other day here. We have a whole week that is dry! Isn't it amazing? So now I can do the zillion things I must do this week, these five or so days sans rain is a blessing. If our winter is as wet as this summer, we are in for many feet of snow!
On the other hand, the capricious Goddess of all Living Things might turn off the water spout and give us a drought. I hear it is raining Gila monsters and coyotes in Tucson this month. El Nino: has nothing to do with the Harvest moon.
So cheers, everyone! The GOP is self-destructing and we are going to party next month. WHOOO HOO!

On the other hand the severe drought here on the island continues, though Tofino did get rain.

Which island? I am really curious.
There are wide spread droughts. Hard to track.
