Now John McCain has stepped into the trap and is now attacking Russia and China, demanding they join us in attacking Iran or we will make them suffer...probably by starting a trade war or maybe putting even more military bases in former Warsaw Pact countries or even starting WWIII, I presume.
A leading U.S. senator warned Russia and China on Friday of damage to their relationship with the United States if they refused to go along with sanctions against Iran.
Republican Senator John McCain of Arizona told a Brussels conference that Iran's nuclear program posed the greatest security threat to the world alongside terrorism.
The U.N. Security Council should impose sanctions including an investment ban, a travel ban and asset freezes on government leaders and nuclear scientists, McCain said.
Asked what consequences there would be if Moscow and Beijing blocked such a move, he told reporters: "Clearly it's going to affect many areas of cooperation between our two countries.
"There will be a reaction in the U.S. Congress."
Why the hysteria? Iran can't nuke us. Iran has never launched an attack on the USA outside of the Middle East and that was only when we joined up with a certain country called "Israel" to attack Muslims in Lebanon, right? Oh, and they fought us in Iran. No surprises there! There is actually no sane reason for Iran to hate us. We just handed them Saddam's head, so to speak. Por favor!
McCain added he was not trying to tell the administration what to do. He said that military action would be very complicated but the United States could not risk a nuclear Iran exterminating Israel.
OK, now we see who is pulling McCain's Chatty Kathy string! This paranoia about Iran or anyone nuking nuclear Israel is pure fantasy. So why is McCain so hysterical about it? Why is Bush swearing that he would rather start WWIII than let Iran have nukes? Let's pretend Iran wants to nuke Israel. First, it would kill off nearly as many Palestinians as Jews so that isn't going to be very popular with the Palestinians. And Israel can retaliate and so can we! So that means these nukes will operate as all nukes have operated for the last 60 years: as a deterrent! Namely, no one and this definitely includes the mega-user of nuclear bombs, the USA, can ever attack without some sort of retaliation!
Obviously, the media owners and the Jewish people running AIPAC and Israel all seem united in trying to prevent Iran from defending itself. The oil companies and Saudi Arabia and the UAE all want a defanged Iran, too. Since the most powerful oil overlords outside of Russia and the most powerful media/political lobbyists inside America both want a defanged Iran, we are rapidly being shepherded into a truly nasty war. Namely, these outsiders who don't care if America goes up in flames, are pushing us into a head-to-head battle with a very much united Russia and China!
THIS IS INSANE!!!!
And this infuriates me. If Israel is so scared of Iran, they could go to the UN and demand the UN disarm the entire Middle East including Israel. Then all the oil and religious communities can be run by the UN, right? Perfect safety! After all, the UN was started after WWII in order to stop world wars! And since Israel and Saudi Arabia are conspiring to push the three greatest nations into open conflict over the possibility that the hated Shi'ites might have weapons is just totally insane and should be discussed as an insane proposition.
Except the USA is committed to this rash and insane course.

WASHINGTON, April 29 — Iran and the United States have begun to reveal new strategies in their nuclear dispute that seem bound to escalate their confrontation, as both nations seek to turn to their advantage a highly critical report that portrays a nuclear program proceeding at full tilt, in growing secrecy. In many ways, what has unfolded in the past three days resembles cold-war deception and brinkmanship, but with some decidedly new twists for a very different nuclear age. And, much like the early days of the cold war, both sides have been trying to rewrite the rules on the fly, using every tool available — from American threats of sanctions to Iranian threats of oil cutoffs — to maneuver.
Cold war? How about hot war? No one knows where a conflict stops being local and becomes global. All we know is that once one prays to Mars and unleashes the slathering dogs of war, they go a'hunting and don't stop until satiated. Millions, billions of humans can die hideous deaths before the dogs of war are engorged. They have nearly limitless appetites.
Oil Minister Kazem Vaziri Hamaneh said on Wednesday that the establishment of Oil Stock Exchange is in its final stage and the bourse will be launched in Iran in the next week.He told reporters, upon arrival from Qatar where he attended the 10th General Assembly of International Energy Agency and consultations with OPEC member states, that registration of the Oil Stock Exchange is underway and the entity will operate after being approved by by Council of Stock Exchange.
He rejected a statement attributed to him saying that Oil Stock Exchange will bring to the ground the US economy and said, "I don't know who has speculated that I've not talked about US economy." Asked about conference on energy in Doha, he said that more than 60 countries and 30 oil companies and consultants took part in the conference.
America has only one major industry now: finances. Stockmarkets and merchantile exchanges as well as banking. The dollar is on a collision course with the Weimar mark. The only thing keeping our economy afloat is the willingness of Japan and China to finance our mega-buying spree. Take away China and we go into full collapse. The rule of the dollar as the only currency to buy oil is ending. It is ending because America took cynical advantage of this and inflated its way back to cheap oil. Now, this is going to fade away.
And good thing, too! This policy of faking the true value of the dollar is killing our industry! Cheap energy was wasted instead of using the excess funds to put in futuristic solutions to the Hubbert Oil Peak, we partied like there is no tomorrow. And now we will pay the piper. And nuking Iran won't fix this. Joining with Israel and Saudi Arabia to start attacking China and Russia won't fix this.
Heck! Hu was in Saudi Arabia this last week and they were kissing him all over the place! It was quite a love-fest. Of course, China will triangulate and if we sit quiet and give them time, they will pull in Iran and put a lid on any revolutionary fighting because the last thing China wants is a war. They much prefer to buy everything. Heh.
We are the ones itching for war because we have nothing else to do but to watch our pretentions deflate. Or we could put ourselves back to work doing useful stuff. Naw.
War!
I think they may have seen too many "Westerns", where the solution is so often to go and kill a lot of people. On the silver screeen, it is so simple, and clean smelling.

So is the cat a permanent change? I admit I wasn't used to thinking of Iran as a pretty girl.
And anyway, even if I was, there's still Japan.

I decided "Persia" should be a Persian cat. And they are toying with us just like a cat with a mouse.

The House just voted on the Iran Liberation Act, with only 21 voting against. It's deja vu, all over again.
