« Israel Admits To Using Phosphorous Bombs While Bush Fiddles Over Iraq | Main | The Taliban Declare War On NATO »

The next full moon is on November 5th.

Also, it appears that the idiotic show called "Jerico" is intended to let us know that life will be quite normal after all major cities in America are nuked.

No radiation, plenty of water and food, same old petty little problems: love affairs, high cholesterol, teen parties while the parents are away (permenantly), local fires and heroic rescues and an endless list of minor crises reminiscent of a soap opera.

It is truly sad that after all the howling and screaming about inappropriate shows on television, this show (sitcom?) which trivializes nuclear war is allowed to run week after week with no protest.

Sort of like Europe after the Black Death! Of course, this is a lie handed out to the yokels to keep them toiling in the fields until the last minute.

Paraguay was a very popular place for Nazis to hide. I was in a bar at the bus station in Asuncion about 15 years ago and a very blond young man sat down. The first thing out of the mouth of one of the other patrons: "German?". At Punta del Este, the shi-shi resort in Uruguay, the biggest and blackest mercedes's have Paraguay plates. One can supposedly buy citizenship there.

Elaine Meinel Supkis

Ja, das ist Richtig!

I know how popular it is with ex-Nazis, whenever I used to travel down south of the border, if I spoke German, people assumed I was the daughter of just exactly those sorts of people.

"All sorts of theories but my own are circulating."

But you're used to that!

You know what I am hoping? I am hoping you are wrong here. I have been thinking about this, mainly because I have children.

What if Bush is really planning a personal escape not connected to WWIII? Right now, he is trying a man in Iraq for killing 300,000 people over 20 years, while HE has killed 600,000 in just 3 years. Nazis fled to South America to avoid prosecution.

I find it hard to believe that the British Royal family, and other old money families, would prefer to live in South America than where they are now. Right now, they are living high on the hog. Why would they want to live on a desolate plain or in a hot, humid jungle -- even if it did come with free peasants? I just cannot believe they would give up all their money, estates, and privilages (world-wide travel, resorts, etc.) to rule over some Banana Republic.

Now, Bush. Yes, I can see that. He is actually moving up by buying 100,000 acres of land and proclaiming himself "king". But the rest of the aristocracy would be moving down -- way down.

Elaine Meinel Supkis

Um, the record of royalty being smart is brutally short!

In May, 1914, no one would have thought the kings and emperors in Europe, all cousins literally, would suddenly decide to fight to the death, right?

Liberal AND Proud

You miss the point, DeVaul.

After the armageddon, those civilizations will be GONE. Don't you think those "old" aristocrats would prefer living in a safe haven under the thumb of an idiot king, than in the burnt ruins of their old empire.

Elaine Meinel Supkis

And never underestimate fatalism. This force often lives deep within ancient 'families' that have a strong 'gotterdammerung' feeling, look at Germany or Japan, the oldest living royal family is in Japan and they can barely reproduce anymore and they led the nation into a fight to the bitter end and total destruction leading to two nukes falling on them and all the while, the emperor just sat there, open-mouthed.

Only when he thought HE would be nuked, he reacted.

Well, I did not miss the point. I just did not mention some assumptions I had made:

For example, my assumption that the old aristocracy was behind and in fact a major moving force towards the so-called armaggedon. Also, I assumed that they could, at any time, pull the rug out from under Bush and other lower level idiots and prevent a nuclear war. I also assumed that Bush and others are just doing their bidding and are not rogue leaders under no control. Leaders who defy the real rulers usually end up assassinated (Lincoln, JFK, Martin Luther King, Robert Kennedy and a host of lesser known people).

I was not aware that the old, rich and powerful families of Europe and America were completely helpless and had no influence on world events.

Hello Elaine and all,

Here's some more red-hot ink for your pen. Now help me "vanquish the sword."

The time has arrived for those blinded by religion to open their eyes, see the light, and help me vanquish the sword they have been deceived into supporting and wielding. How can Judeo-Christians blindly support rich and powerful leaders who rule using great wealth, deception, war, destruction, torture, and injustice when the messiah is supposed to deliver truth, wisdom, and justice, vanquish the sword, and dethrone the unjust, rich, and powerful? What is wrong with this picture?

No leader of an empire ever truly believes the religions used to manipulate subjects. That would be like a drug dealer hooked on his product; its bad for business...

Understanding why religion is strong delusion

Christians often quote things like "know them by their fruits," yet after millennia of being duped into abetting blatantly evil scoundrels, many still don't understand the meaning or import of much of what they read. The same canon paradoxically propounds "faith," which means the complete opposite of "know them by their fruits," i.e., to discern the truth by analyzing deeds and results (works) and to weigh actions instead of merely believing what is said.

The deceptive circular logic of posing a fantasy messiah who urges both discernment of the truth and faith (belief without proof) clearly represents a skillful and purposeful effort to impose ignorance and confusion through "strong delusion." Any sage worth his salt could understand the folly of this contradictory so-called wisdom. This and mountains of evidence demonstrate that faith and religion are the opposite of truth and wisdom. It is no wonder charlatans like Rove, Bush, and others have marked Christians as dupes to be milked as long and as hard as possible. Any accomplished con artist easily recognizes religion as the ultimate scam and fervent followers as ready-made marks and dupes.

We now live in an era where science has proven so much about the vastness, rationality, mathematical preciseness, and structural orderliness throughout every level of our 11-dimension universe. Nonetheless, large percentages of people still conclude that these flawed and contradictory religious canons are the unmodified and infallible "word of God." People who can't (or won't) discern the difference between truth and belief are easily misled about the differences between good and evil, wisdom and folly, perfection and error, reason and irrationality, and right and wrong.

The fact that political leaders have always had close relationships with religious leaders while cooperating to manipulate followers to gain wealth and power is overwhelming evidence that the true purpose of religion is deception and delusion. People who are unable to effectively discern basic moral choices or to reason accurately are easily indoctrinated to follow the dictates of national and imperial leaders who wrap themselves in religious pretense. Truth and wisdom are direct threats to the existence and power of empires. That is why imperial leaders always strive to hide so-called secret knowledge and impose deception and ignorance upon their subjects.

What then is the purpose of "faith" but to prevent otherwise good people from seeking to understand truth and wisdom?

I disagree with many things that you say, mainly because your view of religion is a Christian/Judea/Muslim one. There are other religions in the world that still surive despite the rampage of the above three, and they are often guided by wisdom, truth, and natural laws as opposed to faith and blind obedience.

Mathematics tells us nothing about right and wrong, moral or immoral, just or unjust. Look at Oppenheimer and tell me what mathematics taught him. He was not guided by religion at all, only the arrogance of his own vanity and ambition. Now the whole world suffers, and will continue to suffer because of the immoral applications of mathematics, science, biology (anthrax anyone?) and so on by scientists who want to be the "first" to do this or that. Whether they should do this or that falls within the realm of human religion, and that cannot be considered by the "rational" mind.

Without religion -- real religion -- all we have are numbers and gadgets, which teach us nothing about right versus wrong or even how to live together without massacreing each other with our ever ingenius new gadgets.

It is my belief that religion will in fact be our salvation, as it alone is powerful enough to persuade us to set aside our weapons of mass destruction and learn to understand others and accept them as being different but equal.

There was a time when a druid could step between two opposing armies and stop the battle right then and there upon his moral authority alone. Who among the believers of the one god could do the same? There are none, nor will there ever be, because the combatants do not really believe their own religion. Mathematics and science have taught them that wise men are useless.
