Here in southern Indiana men and women call people they don't know Hon or Dear or Sweetie all the time.

I've been addressed this way hundreds of times by folks working in restaurants or stores or on the street throughout my life.

Looks like Obama is tuned into white southern working class culture after all.

Now if he had given her the finger and told her to fuck off then the media would be praising him as a person who could protect our country.

We're screwed.

mad mike

i figger all the things we should know about obama we will find out after he's president.
it seems folks think he is perfect. he is just a man.
will obama leave the white house richer or poorer than he went in?
is he better because he is just black? or half white? or what ever?
he is for atomic energy. takes lots of money form that lobby. but what of the spent fuel?
sits around in pools next to reactors. no one wants it.
he voted for a gas tax break for his home state but doesnt want one nationally.
i say zero taxes for zero services.
he has to give back tens of thousands of dollars in donations from some crooked real estate broker.
mark my words, we wont know who obama really is until he is in the white house.
i accept out chinese overlords. do you?
hooray for china. down with imperialist scum!
there is no limit to human greed and folly.(tm)

Oh, what a wicked web we weave....

US plot to nail Iran backfires
WASHINGTON - The George W Bush administration's plan to create a new crescendo of accusations against Iran for allegedly smuggling arms to Shi'ite militias in Iraq has encountered not just one but two setbacks.

The government of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki refused to endorse US charges of Iranian involvement in arms smuggling to Shi'ite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr's Mahdi Army, and a plan to show off a huge collection of Iranian arms captured in and around the central city of Karbala had to be called off after it was discovered that none of the arms was of Iranian origin.

The news media's failure to report that the arms captured from Shi'ite militiamen in Karbala did not include a single Iranian weapon shielded the US military from a big blow to its anti-Iran strategy

Senior US military officials were clearly furious with Maliki for backtracking on the issue. "We were blindsided by this," one of them told Zavis.

Then the Bush administration's plot encountered another serious problem...

We found zero WMD in Iraq. The UN did NOT authorize our invasion. So it is a war crime.

Now we are going for war crime #3. Germany and Japan were not viewed as starting a world war until they both invaded three places.

Here is my prediction for the election: All the attention will be placed on selecting the main candidate, but the true agenda is which VP gets selected.

Media will say VP selection not important.

Then when Obama is MLK'd and McCain is Reagan'ed we will have...

Bloomberg or Lieberman running the United States of Israel.

For Obama, here's a good bet for a shortlist: former Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Sam Nunn, a favorite of the party's conservative wing; current Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Joe Biden; Reagan's former Navy secretary and now Virginia Democratic Senator Jim Webb; and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

(Bloomberg is the principal owner of Bloomberg LP. I thought talk of his independent presidential run was quixotic, yet while he might not want it -- he's not a natural No. 2 -- he would bring economic and security heft to a ticket.)

McCain's list would include former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, even with their frosty personal relations during the presidential campaign; Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty -- if he can avoid silly moments like talking on a radio show about his lack of a sex life with his wife -- and Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman.

Bloomberg is a Republican.

Lieberman is a member of the Lieberman Party. Seriously. So neither will be in this role. Obama will pick a Southern White person of some sort.

McCain will pick someone young just like Bush did with Quayle. McCain won't survive his office. He is old and increasingly sick like Kennedy. Already has cancer.

If Obama is killed, we will see our cities burn. Especially if the VP is a white southerner.

Our cities will burn regardless as oil shoots north of $150 and brings food along for the ride. Once gasoline hits $5 and diesel hits $6, the transport system for goods and services begins to totally break down and shortages arises. If someone believes they can steal Iranian oil in order to bring about the rapture sooner, and that Joe sixpack will yell yeehaw when the price of his beer doubles, if he can find it, while he is recently unemployed is insane. And yes there will be more disasters, but without fuel or a functioning transport system the social order will break down in those areas. Expect rationing of fuel and food in some areas of the US before the end of the year. Warren Buffet stated recently oil was finite but you can always grow more food, what he forgot to consider was you need fossil fuels to plant, fertilize, irrigate, harvest and transport food to market.
